LIVE FREE

(Click The Link Above)

Live Free is a national organization dedicated to ending gun violence and the mass incarceration and criminalization of our communities.

Since 2011, we have been building a network of thousands of faith leaders, directly impacted leaders, and movement partners working to bring peace and healing to our cities.

OUR WORK

  • Gun Violence

Live Free USA works to bring peace to our communities by supporting the implementation of community violence intervention (CVI) strategies which have a long track record of dramatically reducing violence in cities throughout the country. By identifying and engaging the tiny number of individuals at highest risk for shooting (often just 0.1% of a city’s population), CVI practitioners work intensively with these individuals to interrupt imminent conflicts and connect them to a range of tailored services to help them adopt nonviolent lifestyles.

  • Mass Incarceration

Live Free works to ensure that public officials serve as allies (rather than obstacles) in reforming policies and practices that drive the mass incarceration and criminalization of our communities. This includes pushing for public safety strategies such as community violence intervention which reduce violence without fueling more incarceration. Our Live Free County Scorecards are used by advocates and organizers to assess the quality of local policies and to help inform their advocacy targets.

We are working to establish a prison oversight commission.

  • Police Accountability

We led the successful effort to establish the Citizens Police Oversight Commission (CPOC) and continue to support its work. We currently are running the Act Now Campaign to make changes to the contract between the City of Philadelphia and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
